The Fate of the Vaal updates in Path of Exile 2 feel like the first time the temple loop actually respects your hours, especially if you're the kind of player who tracks value run by run and compares it to other farming routes like PoE 2 Currency strategies. For ages, building a temple could feel like work with no paycheck. You'd roll rooms that did basically nothing, then wonder why you bothered. With the modifier buffs—pretty much a straight lift across tiers—there's now a floor to profitability. Even a "meh" layout doesn't sting the same way, because the baseline rewards aren't falling off a cliff anymore.



Tier 3 Rooms Actually Matter Now
The biggest win is what Tier 3 rooms do to the run itself. Before, maxing a room out was more of a checklist thing. Now it changes the fights you're signing up for. You'll notice it fast: the temple starts spawning targeted threats tied to your choices, like Corrupted Abominations, Unchained Beasts, Royal Sentinels, and High Priests. That's a much better kind of pressure. It's not just "hope the chest is good." It's "I built this, so I'm dealing with this," and the payoff feels earned. It also makes planning less abstract, because you can feel the consequences room to room.



The Treasure Vault Gets a Real Identity
Then there's the Treasure Vault. It used to be the sort of room you tolerated. Now it's a proper lever. That global 25% increased item rarity across the whole temple turns it into a multiplier rather than a one-off loot stop. In practice, it changes how you route your upgrades. People who used to ignore it are suddenly chasing it, because it makes every other "good" room look better. It's simple, but it's the right kind of simple.



Currency Benches Still Feel Weirdly Tight
There's still one sore spot: the currency benches. Yes, the post-Act 3 change is nice. Being able to take the currency as an item instead of being forced to slam the service right away removes that awful "use it now" vibe. But the amounts? Still stingy. You can spend ages setting up a temple, clear it clean, and walk out with one orb like it's a tip. The QoL is real, but the reward doesn't match the time spent, and that part of the temple economy hasn't moved much.



Medallions Add Agency and Fix the Mood
Medallions are where the system finally feels modern. Getting to juice your temple with Waystone modifiers for ten runs fits the endgame loop: you take on more risk, you expect better returns. It's also great for momentum, because you're not rebuilding your plan every single run. The reroll Medallion is huge too—no more staring at a bricked set of room options and just sighing. Architect fights feel less punishing, room losses are lighter, and the console linking to any adjacent room cuts out so much awkward pathing. With the Tablet crafting and Unique Vault improvements, the temple is starting to feel like a reliable endgame lane you can actually commit to, especially when you're thinking about where your u4gm PoE 2 Currency goals sit for the week, not just for one lucky run.
